Bulgarian Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Lyudmila Petkova is paying a working visit to the headquarters of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) in Paris, where she attended a meeting of OECD's Committee on Financial Markets, Petkova's Ministry said in a press release on Thursday.

The Deputy PM conferred with OECD Accession Coordinator Gita Kothari, with OECD's Committee on Financial Markets Chair Aerdt Houben, with OECD's Directorate for Financial and Enterprise Affairs Director Carmine Di Noia, and with OECD coordinator for the Economic Survey on Bulgaria Margit Molnar. The sides discussed the significant progress achieved by Bulgaria in the years-long process of its accession to the Organisation. Houben noted that the OECD highly appreciates Bulgaria's financial stability and implemented reforms, the press release reads.

The excellent cooperation between the Bulgarian institutions and the OECD in conducting the technical reviews on compliance of Bulgarian legislation and administrative practices with the OECD's legal instruments was highlighted, as were the achievements within the Committee on Fiscal Affairs, the Committee on Budget, the Committee on Financial Markets, and the Insurance and Private Pensions Committee. Petkova reaffirmed the caretaker Cabinet's political commitment to fulfilling its obligations in relation to joining the euro area and the OECD, which remain Bulgaria's top priority.

During the meeting of the Committee on Financial Markets, Petkova presented the Bulgarian legislation, policies and practices in line with the legal instruments and the OECD Core Principles on Financial Markets. "The accession of our country to the OECD and the implementation of the standards and the best international policies and good practices is a key priority for us as it will catalyze the acceleration of reforms and convergence with the most economically developed countries. Our membership will contribute to sustainable economic development, financial stability, and unleashing the potential of the Bulgarian economy and its attraction to foreign investors," Petkova told the Committee members.
