Theatre performances, concerts, and an exhibition were the highlights of the 41st Apollonia Arts Festival here on Saturday. The programme kicked off with a green awareness campaign and an exhibition entitled We Are Earth.

The literary programme included a meeting with writer and journalist Dimiter Kenarov, who presented his book The Bulgarian Connection at the Art Gallery in Sozopol. The same venue later hosted the play Letters to... A Documentary about a Still Unsolved Crime directed by Nikolay Polyakov.

Students from the National Academy for Theatre and Film Arts staged 12 Angry Men at the Otets Paisiy Community Centre. Violinist Albena Danailova, violist Rumen Tsvetkov, cellist Alexander Somov, and pianist Ludmil Angelov performed at the Archaeological Museum.

Wedlock, based on a short story by Nikolay Haytov and directed by Magdalena Ralcheva, was screened later Saturday.

Kerana & Kosmonavtite closed the night with a concert at the Apollonia Amphitheatre. After her performance, Kerana shared with the audience that she had broken her foot, but that did not stop the show.

The Apollonia Festival of Arts has been held since 1984. It is organized by the Apollonia Foundation, established in 1991. Each year, the stages of Apollonia in Sozopol attract hundreds of artists and thousands of art lovers from Bulgaria and abroad. The festival aims to preserve cultural traditions, while also supporting new talents across different art forms. This year’s programme includes more than 70 events in music, theatre, literature, cinema, and visual arts.

On September 1, as part of the Apollonia Festival, there will be a presentation of the new issue of LIK, the Bulgarian News Agency's magazine for literature, art, and culture. The August issue of the magazine is dedicated to the 130th anniversary of the beginning of organized tourism in Bulgaria.
