Bulgarian violinist Svetlin Roussev gave a solo concert Wednesday night at the Imperial Chapel of the Hofburg Palace in Vienna, Austria, at the invitation of the Bulgarian Cultural Institute (BCI) Wittgenstein House, BCI told BTA.

This was Svetlin Roussev’s first performance before the Austrian audience. They rose to their feet four times in appreciation of the virtuosic performance, BCI said.

The program included works by Johann Sebastian Bach, Eugene Ysaye, Petar Hristoskov, and Flausino Vale.

Roussev performed on a 1716 "Baron Wittgenstein" Stradivari, which the Bulgarian state entrusted to him.

The concert was dedicated to the 140th anniversary of the Unification of the Principality of Bulgaria with Eastern Rumelia and the proclamation of Bulgaria’s independence on September 22, 1908.
