The Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry is preparing a Bulgarian-Moldovan business forum on March 26-27, 2024, in the Moldovan capital of Chisinau, the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) said here on Friday. The event is organized together with the Moldovan Investment Agency with the support of the Ministry of Economy and Industry of Bulgaria on the occasion of the 9th meeting of the Intergovernmental Bulgarian-Moldovan Commission for Economic Cooperation.

The forum will focus on the following sectors: energy; agriculture; tourism; light industry; textile industry; furniture industry; pharmaceutical industry; construction etc.

The event will include the presentation of current information on the economies of Bulgaria and Moldova, detailed presentations of various sectors with potential for the development of economic cooperation, as well as bilateral business meetings between Bulgarian and Moldovan companies. The working language of the forum is English.

According to the data from the Bulgarian Economy Ministry, the leading exports from Bulgaria to Moldova in the first half of 2023 are petroleum oils and oils from bituminous minerals; oils and other products obtained from the distillation of coal tar; mineral or chemical nitrogen and other fertilizers and medicines, float glass and others.

The leading commodity groups in imports to Bulgaria from Moldova in the first half of 2023 are sunflower seeds, wires, cables and other insulated electrical conductors.

There are real opportunities to increase mutual supply of goods and expand cooperation in tourism. There is a potential for increasing Bulgarian exports in the field of food industry goods and equipment, medicines, perfumery and cosmetics, electronics, electric motors, machinery, lifting and transport equipment etc. Opportunities for participation in joint projects and investments in the agricultural sector, cooperation in the field of animal husbandry, crop production and wine sector are also on point, BCCI said.
