Bulgaria for the Citizens Movement
Opposes Reformist Bloc Congress
at This Stage

Sofia, November 14 (BTA) - Meeting on Thursday evening, the
Executive Council of the Bulgaria for the Citizens Movement
(BCM) decided that holding a congress of the Reformist Bloc
would be counterproductive and inappropriate at this stage
before trust among the parties in the coalition improves
tangibly and before all parties in the Bloc expressly state a
common consent on the matter of the Bloc's future leadership.
"Without this, such a move would not only fail to bring unity
one step closer but, on the contrary, would substantially
increase the risks facing the entity," Nastimir Ananiev MP of
BCP said on Friday.

The Executive Board found that there is a high level of mistrust
among some of the parties in the Reformist Bloc and expressed
readiness to work for a restoration of the good intra-coalition
relations. "The key indication of restored intra-coalition
relations will be the way the Reformist Bloc Parliamentary Group
works," the BCM said.

"The Reformist Bloc was established as a platform for reforms,
not as an attempt to form yet another party. The leadership
potential is proved through the implementation of these
reforms," Ananiev argued. In his words, a lot of people in all
parties in the Reformist Bloc oppose its transformation into a
single party. The MP said that Democrats for Strong Bulgaria
leader Radan Kanev told the Parliamentary Group that a congress
is expected to take place in mid-January 2015. PK/LG
