Organizers of Online Betting
to Pay Lv 50,000 in Fee
for Socially Responsible Conduct

Sofia, November 26 (BTA) - Instead of a tax, organizers of
online betting will pay 50,000 leva (around 25,000 euro) in an
annual fee for socially responsible conduct by March 31 of every
year, according to first-reading amendments to the Gambling Act
introduced by GERB. They were adopted without a debate on
Wednesday.

The revenues will go to the State Commission on Gambling.
Organizers licensed after that date must pay the annual fee
within 30 days of receiving their licence. The legal bank
interest rate will be charged for failure to duly pay the annual
fee.

The fee payable for games at a casino is set at 10,000 leva. All
other organizers of gambling games must pay an annual fee of
5,000 leva.

The State Commission on Gambling is obliged to plan financing
for approved projects of non-profit juristic persons designed
for protection of young people from gambling, for prevention and
treatment of gambling dependence, and for socially responsible
advertising and marketing.

The bill of amendments introduces a fee for lotteries, keno,
bingo and other games of chance not included in the latest
amendments to the Gambling Act. LI/DD
