Justice Minister: Ministry Will Analyze All
Cases on Which Controversial
Trustee in Bankruptcy Has Worked

Sofia, December 9 (BTA) - The Justice Ministry will analyze all
cases on which the trustee in bankruptcy, Panayot Velkov, has
worked, Justice Minister Hristo Ivanov told journalists here on
Tuesday. Velkov has worked together with Judge Roumyana
Chenalova on the case against a French company about which
French Ambassador here, Xavier Lapeyre de Cabanes, expressed
doubts about violations.

Information emerged about Velkov that he was regularly assigned
as a trustee in bankruptcy by Chenalova, including in the
bankruptcy cases of TV7 and the NEWS7 news website, despite his
limited professional experience.

The Justice Ministry has sent a letter to Velkov, requesting
that he testifies, as well as a letter to the Sofia City Court,
requesting all cases on which the trustee in bankruptcy has
worked, so they can be analyzed.

Commenting the new check, which the Supreme Judicial Council
started on the system for random case assignments, Minister
Ivanov said that a new check sounds to him like "a new attempt
to assign the same case". He explained that a problem with the
system's security was found on a few occasions, expressing doubt
that a new check aims to lead to a different conclusion. The
diagnosis is that the software is unsecured, he said. PK/MY
