A blood drive has attracted a record number of first-time blood donors to Burgas Hospital. The campaign was intended for twelfth graders and attracted nearly 50 donors on Thursday, said hospital PR officer Yulia Andreeva.

The first to join what is a traditional annual blood drive this year were students from the Professional High School of Mechanical Engineering and Electronics. They were accompanied by Anna Zlatanova - an electronics teacher and 50-times blood donor. "The most important lesson we can teach students is first of all to be human beings. I am satisfied that through personal example and with the help of my high school colleagues we manage to motivate our students to become blood donors every year," said Zlatanova.

Thanks to the campaign, the number of young people donating blood for the first time in Burgas is growing every year. The initiative is now in its sixth year and has already established itself as a traditional way for high school students to mark their graduation in an extraordinary way.

In mid-March, doctors from the hospital and employees of the Regional Directorate of the Interior participated in a charity initiative and donated blood to support the campaign.
