BSP for Bulgaria Floor Leader Korneliya Ninova Thursday told the media that it was only logical that they did not get the third cabinet-forming mandate from the President because they had already said that they did not want it.

Ninova added that it was also "completely logical" that There Is Such a People received the third mandate and declined it.

The BSP for Bulgaria Floor Leader said that her parliamentary group is surprised by GERB leader Boyko Borissov's call for the caretaker prime minister not to be the National Audit Office head, Dimitar Glavchev, or the Parliament Chair, Rosen Zhelyazkov. "When GERB backed these changes to the Constitiution, they knew that Zhelyazkov and Glavchev are from GERB and could be selected for this position".

"It is up to the President to choose. Let him make up his mind," she said.

Earlier on Thursday, President Rumen Radev said that he had started talks with all potential caretaker prime ministers. "As a party, we have not yet been invited to consultations," Ninova said, adding that the President "will obviously first hold talks with possible candidates," which include the National Assembly chair, the governor or deputy-governor of the Bulgarian National Bank, the president and deputy president of the Bulgarian National Audit Office, and the ombudsman or his deputy. "It is only then that he will start talks with us. It is logical to do so, so he can brief us on the progress of these talks and which of the potential candidates has undertaken a commitment and which has declined," Ninova said.

The Socialist Leader reiterated that they are ready for elections.

The BSP for Bulgaria Floor Leader said that she expects a two-in-one election, meaning simultaneous European and national elections. "The President should not delay the procedure so that we save money and do not make people go to the polls twice because this is virtually a guarantee of low turnout," she added.
