Traffic is heavy at all border crossing points (BCPs) for cars, at the entrance, along the border with Romania, the General Directorate of Border Police - Ministry of Interior said on its website. The information is up to date as of 6 p.m.

Traffic is heavy at the Vidin checkpoint and the Kardam checkpoint for trucks, at the exit. The Romanian border authorities will not allow trucks over 7.5 tonnes through the Durankulak/Vama Veche BCP during the holidays, including Monday until 10 pm. 

Traffic for cars is also exceptionally heavy at the Danube Bridge border crossing point (BCP) with Romania at Ruse, the border checkpoint officials told BTA.

On the border with Greece, traffic is heavy at the Kulata and Makaz checkpoints for cars, at the entrance. Only cars and vans can pass through the Makaza, Zlatograd and Ivaylovgrad border crossings.

On the border with Serbia, Turkiye, and North Macedonia, traffic is normal at all border crossing points.

Construction and modernization works are being carried out at the Kalotina checkpoint. It requires temporary narrowing of the lanes and reorganization of the traffic of vehicles passing through. 

Traffic on the Struma motorway is very heavy, the press centre of the Interior Ministry told BTA. Monday, May 6, is the last non-working day of several in a row during the Easter and May 1 holidays.

The Interior Ministry stressed that traffic in the direction to Sofia is very heavy, but that is to be expected. 

So far, there have been no serious road accidents, the department added.
