At 26%, the share of Bulgarian enterprises using e-business applications in the EU was the second lowest in the EU, according to data released by the Statistical Office of the European Union (Eurostat) on Thursday. Only Romania performed worse, with a share of 24%. The top-of-the-list Member States in this respect were Denmark (74%), Finland (71%) and Belgium (67%).

E-business applications are used to manage the enterprise resources: enterprise resource planning (ERP), information about customers (customer relationship management (CRM), or to analyze data (business intelligence software (BI).

The adoption of e-business applications varied among enterprise size classes in the EU.

The percentage of enterprises with ERP ranged from 38% for small enterprises to 86% for large enterprises, and from 11% to 63%, respectively, for those using BI software and from 22% to 61% for the enterprises using CRM software.
