site.btaFebruary Banking System Profit Amounts to BGN 484 Mln

The profit of the banking system in Bulgaria was BGN 484 million as of end-February, the Bulgarian National Bank said on Friday. This is a 22.8% increase compared to the profit for the first two months of 2023.

In February 2024, there was an increase in loans to households (by BGN 654 million, 1.6%) and to non-financial corporations (by BGN 641 million, 1.3%). A decrease was reported for loans to other financial corporations (by BGN 19 million, 0.2%) and to the general government sector (by BGN 7 million, 0.9%).

Compared to the end of January, the deposits in the banking system decreased by BGN 270 million (0.2%) to BGN 147.1 billion.

At the same time, growth during the month was registered in the deposits of households (by BGN 726 million, 0.9%) and of the general government sector (by BGN 141 million, 3.6%).
