Soprano Elsa Dreisig will give her first concert in Bulgaria on April 12. She will present the Northern Lights recital in Bulgaria Hall at the invitation of Sonya Yoncheva, the organizers from SY11 Events said. The event is part of the Intimate Voices series.

Northern Lights includes compositions by German, French, Norwegian, Danish, and Finnish composers, including Richard Strauss, Carl Nielsen, Edvard Grieg, Jean Sibelius and others. The 33-year-old Elsa Dreisig will also perform songs by Edith Piaf - Padam padam and La vie en rose.

Elsa Dreisig's husband, Bulgarian Nikola Nikolov, will take part in the concert. He started studying violin at the age of eight in Nice. Later he specialized at the Higher National Conservatoire in Paris. He worked with orchestras such as the Paris Philharmonic, where he became principal second violin in 2021. On stage in Bulgaria Hall will also be the American pianist Jonathan Ware, who has played at Carnegie Hall, the John F. Kennedy Center, Concertgebouw, Theatre on the Champs-Elysées and others.

The event is supported by the Danish Embassy in Bulgaria and the French Institute in Bulgaria.

Elsa Dreisig was born in Paris into a musical family - her mother is an opera singer and her father is a conductor. She studied singing at the Paris Conservatoire and the University of Music and Theatre Arts in Leipzig. In 2016 in Mexico, Dreisig won first prize at the Operalia Opera Competition, and in 2018 she released her first album of popular opera arias, entitled Miroir(s). It earned her a nomination in the Recital category of the 2019 International Opera Awards.

Her roles on stage include those of Pamina in The Magic Flute and Zerlina in Don Giovanni in the Paris National Opera.

A few weeks back, Dreisig played Mimi from La Boheme at the Opera House in Trondheim, Norway. Other debuts scheduled for 2024 include the roles of Siphar in Mozart's Mithridates - King of Pontus, Elisabetta in Donizetti's Roberto Devereux, Elektra in Mozart's Idomeneo and the Countess in Richard Strauss' Capriccio.
