site.btaSofia City Prosecution Office Sentences Czech Citizen to 15 Years in Prison for Murder

A Czech citizen was sentenced to 15 years in prison for the murder of his girlfriend, the Sofia City Prosecution Office said here on Wednesday. The man was already remanded in custody.

He was on trial for punching his girlfriend in the head at least twice with his fist and intentionally killing her on April 25, 2021 in Sofia. The Prosecution Office said the murder was committed in a particularly painful way for the victim, as the pain and suffering inflicted on her lasted at least two hours.

At first instance, the Sofia City Court imposed 15 years in prison on the man, and the sentence was upheld by the Sofia Appellate Court. No cassation appeal was allowed before the Supreme Court of Cassation.
