site.btaGabriela Naplatanova to Be Acting Head of Council for Electronic Media until October 27

At an extraordinary sitting here on Thursday, the Council for Electronic Media (CEM) adopted a decision whereby Gabriela Naplatanova will be interim head of CEM from April 28 to October 27. The position will then be assumed by Simona Veleva until April 28, 2025.

The decision was adopted after four failed votes at four consecutive CEM sittings, where neither of the two nominees for CEM Chairperson - Naplatanova and Veleva - received the necessary number of votes. Under the procedure, four failed votes require the election of an interim chairperson.

The proposal that two persons be interim heads of CEM for six months each was made by CEM member Prolet Velkova and got the support of Velkova, CEM head Sonya Momchilova, Naplatanova, and Veleva. Galina Georgieva abstained.

Momchilova has headed CEM for two consecutive terms in office, the current one expiring on April 28.
