The Central Election Commission (CEC) continues the registration of parties and coalitions for the upcoming elections. Of those who have submitted documents so far, five parties and two coalitions have been registered, CEC Spokesperson Rositsa Mateva said at a briefing here on Tuesday. She recalled that the registration deadline expires at 5 p.m. on Wednesday. So far, ten parties and eight coalitions have submitted documents for registration, and all of them have submitted documents for participation in the 2-in-1 European Parliament and snap national elections, which are to be held on June 9, Mateva explained.

“The organization of the elections is going smoothly, we are taking our decisions ahead of the timetables and deadlines,” Mateva said.

On Friday, the CEC adopted a decision announcing the list of countries and places where polling stations will be opened, Mateva said. She explained that these are 776 different locations across 60 countries, with the most being in Turkiye - 160, the UK - 131, Germany - 122, Spain - 64, and the US - 43.

Mateva explained that for countries with a permission regime, such as Germany, confirmation is awaited that there will be permission to open polling stations outside diplomatic and consular missions.

The CEC Spokesperson recalled that from 25 April NGOs wishing to participate with observers in both types of elections can submit documents to the CEC.
