Bulgarian citizens can submit applications for voting outside the country for the two upcoming elections, for European Parliament and for the National Assembly, which will both take place on June 9, indicated a Central Election Commission (CEC) decision issued on Thursday.

The application can be signed by hand and submitted in person to the diplomatic or consular representation of Bulgaria in the respective country; sent by letter by post or by courier service to the diplomatic or consular representation (there may be more than one application in one letter, but only one person per application), or it may be submitted online  through the website of the Central Election Commission.

A voter who has the right to vote in the parliamentary elections, but does not have electoral rights to vote in the elections for members of the European Parliament from the Republic of Bulgaria, would be immediately notified of this. In this case, the application is confirmed only for the elections for people's representatives.
If the voter is in the country on election day, they can vote in a polling station at their permanent address by submitting a declaration that they have not voted and will not vote elsewhere, according to the Election Code.

A voter who has not submitted an application for voting outside the country may vote in an established polling station outside the country by submitting a declaration stating that they have not voted and will not vote elsewhere.

Bulgarian citizens will be eligible to vote in the elections for European Parliament if they are over the age of 18, have lived for at least the last three months in Bulgaria or in another member state of the European Union, are not under arrest and are not serving a sentence.

Citizens of other  EU member states who meet the same conditions, are not deprived of the right to vote in the member state of which they are citizens, and have the status of long-term or permanent residents in Bulgaria, can also vote in the European Parliament elections.
