VMRO-DMPNE’s Siljanovska, SDSM’s Pendarovski Go to Runoff Presidential Elections in North Macedonia

The difference between the presidential candidate nominated by VMRO-DPMNE Gordana Siljanovska and the incumbent President of North Macedonia and candidate for a second presidential term, supported by the Social Democratic Union of Macedonia (SDSM), Stevo Pendarovski, is around 176,000 votes in favour of Siljanovska. After the State Election Commission processed 98.18% of the tally sheets, Gordana Siljanovska is ahead with 40.20% of all votes. Stevo Pendarovski is second with 20%, with voter turnout of close to 50%. 

Bujar Osmani, nominated by the European Front coalition led by the largest Albanian party, Democratic Union for Integration (DSI), is ahead of by some 35,000 votes of Arben Taravari, nominated by the Albanian opposition parties. ZNAM candidate Maksim Dimitrievski received 9.04% of the votes, Biljana Vankovska, endorsed by The Left, received 4.57%

The second round of the presidential elections will be held on 8 May together with the country's parliamentary elections.
