A ten-year forecast for the development of the labour market in Bulgaria will be prepared under a Labour Ministry project with a budget of BGN 3.7 million, the Ministry said. It will be an updated forecast with the expected demand and supply, and the likely mismatches on the labour market.

A nationally representative survey will be carried out among employers with a focus on emerging and vanishing jobs, and the new skills in demand.

The project also includes conducting a survey to identify and map the available skills and attitudes to career prospects among workers in the thermal power plants and coal mines affected by the carbon transition in the districts of Stara Zagora, Kyustendil and Pernik. The information gathered will serve employers to develop, plan and deliver appropriate career support and up-skilling and skills development measures for the workforce, the Ministry said. The National Statistical Institute, the Employment Agency, the Confederation of Independent Trade Unions in Bulgaria and the Podkrepa Confederation of Labour will be partners in the project.
