Bulgarian and Moroccan business representatives here on Wednesday discussed cooperation opportunities at a bilateral forum organized by the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) in cooperation with Bulgaria’s Office of Trade and Economic Affairs in Rabat and the Chamber of Commerce, Industry, and Services of the Region of Rabat-Salé-Kénitra.

"We highly value the stability of Morocco and its economy, because only with stable institutions can businesses feel secure and implement their projects," said BCCI President Tsvetan Simeonov, stressing that his organization will make sure that the Moroccan delegation in Bulgaria establishes relevant contacts.

Morocco’s Ambassador to Bulgaria Zakia El Midaoui said that Wednesday’s forum is a prelude to a long series of similar events aimed at promoting cooperation between the private sectors in the two countries.

She noted that the Moroccan economy has a sound macroeconomic framework that can be an effective lever for solid and sustainable growth.

In her words, Morocco has EU advanced partner status and is among the most attractive countries in terms of foreign investment.

Zakia El Midaoui stressed that both countries should seek trade and investment opportunities in sectors of common interest, adding that this will require the active participation of both public and private economic actors.

The delegation from the Chamber of Commerce, Industry, and Services of the Region of Rabat-Salé-Kénitra includes companies with interests in food processing, trade, import and export, agricultural machinery and equipment, automotive, information and communication technology, infrastructure, and construction, among others.

The trade and economic relations between Bulgaria and Morocco marked a positive development in 2023, with bilateral trade up by 65% and a positive trade balance for Bulgaria.
