Land Forces' units participated in a tactical live-fire Iron Strike 2024 exercise of the NATO multinational battlegroup Bulgaria, the Defence Ministry said here on Tuesday.

A mechanized company from the 31st Mechanized Battalion - Haskovo from the 2nd Tundzha Mechanised Brigade - Stara Zagora and a mechanized platoon from the 29th Mechanized Battalion - Shumen from the 5th Brigade Command - Pleven took part in the exercise, which was held at the Novo Selo Training Area (Southeastern Bulgaria).

Tactics, techniques and procedures for defensive actions in coalition format were practiced during the exercise.

The drill was part of the multinational battlegroup training and demonstrated the ability of the Land Forces to actively participate in allied and coalition events to ensure the security of NATO Eastern Flank Member States. It contributes to the development of the formations' defence capabilities and the building of partnerships with other countries.

Formations from Italy, Albania, Greece, North Macedonia and Montenegro also participated in the exercise, the release said.
