Kristian Vigenin, BSP for Bulgaria Coalition's top-of-the-list candidate in the European Parliament elections on June 9, said Sunday that the Green Deal should be reviewed by the new European Parliament. In his words, it is already evident that in its current form the deal is starting to destroy small and medium-sized businesses. "That is why on June 9 we should vote for formations that have political families in Brussels," Vigenin said. He added that the Party of European Socialists’ programme enshrines the idea of revising the Green Deal in order to make it much more social.

Vigenin commented that the upcoming two-in-one elections in Bulgaria for national and European parliament, are very related. He stressed that it is key who will go to the EP so that national and European politics could be synchronised. Vigenin predicted that the new EP will be different from the current one, working much more in the interest of the people. His expectation is that the far-right formations will be slightly more strongly represented. However, sensible people and sensible political parties in Europe should be well aware of why this type of formations attract people, added Vigenin. He pointed out that even PES has somehow started to put aside the problems of working people and families. "These issues have been taken up by the far-right, who attract votes with their populism, but do not know how to solve the problems," Vigenin stressed, adding that the far-right wave is beginning to diminish, nonetheless.
