Junior Ambassadors of the European Parliament from the First High School of Targovishte provided simultaneous interpretation for the jury and participants in the Magic Curtain International Theatre Festival, Senior Ambassador Aneta Mileva said. The festival was held on May 7-11.

The school students helped the participants from Greece, Germany, France, Romania and Czechia during the performances and discussions and accompanied them on sightseeing tours.

"We are happy that we could help while practising the English language. In the short time we spent together, we introduced foreigners to our culture and had some unforgettable moments at the best productions for children and young people," the interpreters said. Local Drama Theatre Director Vladimir Petkov thanked them for their enthusiasm and support.

This is not the first time the students have tried their hand at interpreting: they were involved in last year's edition of the festival and before that they worked with Swiss visitors to the Centre for Special Educational Support in Targovishte.

Teachers and students are appointed as Senior and Junior Ambassadors by the schools selected to take part in the European Parliament Ambassador School Programme, which aims at increasing students' awareness of European parliamentary democracy, the role of the European Parliament and European values.
