site.btaBulgarian President: We All Have an Interest in US-Iran Deal Proving Lasting
Bulgaria's President Iliana Iotova Tuesday commented on an agreement the United States and Iran reached Monday to further extend a ceasefire in the Iran war. "We all have an interest in this deal proving lasting and being supported by guarantees from both sides," Iotova told reporters.
On Monday, US President Donald Trump said that an agreement with Iran had been signed and that the text of the deal would be released after a formal signing on Friday, adding that the Strait of Hormuz would also be fully open.
Iotova said: "I would prefer to remain reserved until I have seen the final text of the agreement." She noted that a minimum 60-day period of broader negotiations would follow the signing.
"I deem it important that the Strait of Hormuz be reopened as soon as possible," she added.
"Let us wait and see the final outcome. This conflict has affected the lives of people around the world," Iotova said.
She made the remarks while speaking to reporters after the opening of the 6th Science for Business forum in Sofia earlier in the day.
