A nationwide strike in Belgium on Thursday is expected to cause significant disruptions to the country’s transport infrastructure, Bulgaria’s Foreign Ministry said on its website.

Brussels Airport (Zaventem) has announced the suspension of all departing flights and part of arriving flights for the day, while Charleroi Airport will halt all flights in both directions. Major disruptions are also expected in Brussels public transport services (STIB/MIVB), as well as those operated by Flemish company De Lijn and Walloon operator TEC. Ferry services may also be affected.

The Foreign Ministry advises Bulgarian citizens residing in or travelling to Belgium to follow real-time transport updates via the websites of the two airports, the national railway company NMBS/SNCB, public transport platforms and Eurostar, and to consider alternative travel arrangements where possible.
