Tennis Player Grigor Dimitrov Beats Stefanos Tsitsipas in Exhibition Match in Sofia

Bulgarian tennis player Grigor Dimitrov defeated Stefanos Tsitsipas in an exhibition match at Sofia's Arena 8888 on Friday. Held under the auspices of President Iliana Iotova, the event was organized to mark the 35th anniversary of Postbank. Dimitrov won the match 6-3, 1-6, 10-7.

Among the official guests at the Postbank Tennis Gala were National Assembly Chair Mihaela Dotsova, Deputy Prime Minister Ivo Hristov, and Labour and Social Policy Minister Nataliya Efremova.

Part of the proceeds will go to the Grigor Dimitrov Foundation in support of initiatives for children and talented young people.

President Iotova presented Dimitrov and Tsitsipas with special trophies.

"Everyone goes through moments, but these are the moments that matter most to me. Seeing the support means a lot to me, for Bulgaria. I have always been a proud Bulgarian. Thank you for sharing these moments with me. I am grateful to the sponsors, thank you to Stefanos for sharing this evening. Today is perhaps my happiest day in a long time," Dimitrov said.

"Grigor is an incredible tennis player, an incredible person. It was a pleasure for me," Tsitsipas said.

Three hundred pupils attended the Postbank Tennis Gala. The joint initiative of Postbank and the Sofia City Regional Department of Education gave some of Sofia’s highest-achieving pupils the opportunity to watch the exhibition match between the Bulgarian and Greek tennis stars from the stands.
