The average retail price of petrol in Bulgaria reached its highest level since the start of the conflict in the Middle East after rising minimally on May 15 by EUR 0.01 per litre to EUR 1.51, according to latest data from the National Revenue Agency (NRA).
On February 28, when the US-Israeli attacks on Iran began, A95 petrol was selling in Bulgaria at EUR 1.23/l at retail. Over the period until May 15, the average price of A95 petrol at Bulgarian filling stations increased by 22.8%, according to a review by BTA based on the news agency's database.
The average retail price of diesel fuel in Bulgaria on May 15 stood at EUR 1.72/l, a level to which it had fallen the previous day.
The NRA determines the average retail prices of fuels in Bulgaria on the basis of information from fiscal receipts issued during the day or month for sales of fuels to end consumers. The calculation of the average price is linked to the Programme for Compensating Natural Persons for Increased Fuel Prices after the Outbreak of the Middle East Conflict, adopted by the former caretaker cabinet headed by Andrey Gurov.
The caretaker cabinet activated the measure to support the most vulnerable individuals at the end of March.
