Varna is modernizing its infrastructure as actively as it can, but tourism must be proactive too, Varna Municipal Council Chair Hristo Dimitrov said on Monday at BTA’s BG Tourism - Summer 2026 forum.
He cited Sts. Constantine and Helena Holding AD Executive Director Elena Koseva as an example of someone who is active and, in his words, “every month, with a little letter, asks for something, something small, something big”. “The tourism industry must be active because with the problems all cities and settlements have, there is nothing to hide, we are not a rich State, we are poor, and if we do not ask, if we do not show the problems we have, there is no way to sort them out,” Dimitrov said.
Dimitrov thanked BTA for the forum, as well as Koseva, because she is the person who motivates the administration to be active.
Dimitrov added that Sts. Constantine and Helena is a resort complex that has been a symbol of Bulgarian tourism for more than 100 years. “Just as we all know Varna as the maritime capital, it is a maritime capital not only in name, you make it a maritime capital in substance too, for which I thank you,” Dimitrov said.
This is the ninth edition of BTA’s initiative to host forums twice a year, at the start of the summer and winter tourist seasons, to discuss messages for presenting tourism in Bulgaria in the coming season with representatives of state and municipal institutions, the tourism industry, non-governmental organizations, academics and experts. ESPA President and BUBSPA Chair Siyka Katsarova also took part in the forum.
