The Chair of the Varna Association of Restaurateurs and Hoteliers, Pavlin Kosev, took part in Bulgarian News Agency's BG Tourism – Summer 2026 forum at the Saints Constantine and Helena resort on Monday. “People in the tourism sector lack self-confidence,” he said.
“Our country has everything - mineral springs, cultural heritage, wineries - what we lack is a little more self-confidence,” Kosev pointed out. According to him, the problem is that in Bulgaria people focus too much on the problems, while such problems exist all over the world. “We should pay more attention to the good things,” he stressed.
“We have an incredible infrastructure and nature, and they are in balance, which is a huge advantage for tourism,” he added. In his view, the summer season will once again be challenging because of the global situation. All crises hit this sector the hardest, Kosev stressed. He added that despite rising costs, a large number of Bulgarian hoteliers will keep prices unchanged in order to remain fair to their partners and customers and to guarantee themselves a successful season.
Kosev expressed satisfaction that the forum’s host resort - Saints Constantine and Helena - is setting a good example, having abandoned the all-inclusive model in recent years. Tourists are looking for better quality, and not always at a lower price, Kosev concluded.
