Bulgaria’s competitive edge lies in its appeal as a healthy, affordable destination, Varna Chamber of Tourism Co-Chair Stoyan Marinov told BTA’s BG Tourism – Summer 2026 forum on Monday. He said the upcoming Health Exchange 2026 event in Varna would deliver the same message on sustainable health tourism.

Marinov congratulated BTA on the initiative, saying such discussions send positive messages. He added that Health Exchange 2026, a high-level European event organized by the European Spas Association and dedicated to the future of sustainable health tourism, would open in Varna on Tuesday and deliver the same kind of message.

Bulgaria remains a good-value destination, though not a cheap one, Marinov said. Citing a study he conducted, he said Bulgarian resorts offer 15% to 20% better value for money than those in Greece and Turkiye, adding that this would remain the case this summer. He also noted that, unlike in previous years, there were unlikely to be many charter flights from Romania to Greece and Turkiye this year.

Bulgaria should promote itself as a healthy, good-value destination, Marinov said. He voiced optimism that, on the strength of this competitive advantage, the upcoming summer season would be solid.
