site.btaOvernight Stay Revenue in Bulgaria Up 15.2% in January, Y/Y
Revenue from overnight stays in January increased by 15.2% compared with the same month of the previous year, reaching EUR 66.5 million, of which EUR 36.1 million came from Bulgarian citizens and EUR 30.4 million from foreign nationals, the National Statistical Institute (NSI) reported on Wednesday.
NSI data show that in the same month of 2025 revenue amounted to BGN 115.2 million, which was 7.7% higher compared with the same month of the preceding year.
The total number of overnight stays in January was 1,132,800, or 0.3% fewer compared with a year earlier. Bulgarian citizens accounted for 650,900 overnight stays, while foreign nationals recorded 481,900.
The number of guests increased by 0.8% compared with the same month of 2025, reaching 490,700, with increases recorded for both foreign nationals, by 0.8%, and Bulgarian citizens, by 0.7%. Bulgarian guests numbered 320,500 and stayed an average of two nights. Foreign nationals numbered 170,200 with an average stay of 2.8 nights, with 79.6% of them staying in accommodation establishments with four and five stars.
The overall bed occupancy rate stood at 26.9%, down by 1.3 percentage points compared with a year earlier. The highest occupancy was recorded in four- and five-star accommodation establishments, at 38.3%, followed by three-star establishments at 22.6% and one- and two-star establishments at 13.7%.
