site.btaJavor Gardev's "The Bacchae" Will Premiere September 30 in Plovdiv and October 9 in Sofia

Following its world premiere at the ancient stage of Epidaurus in Greece, the Bulgarian-Greek production of Euripides' "The Bacchae", directed by Javor Gardev, will also be presented to Bulgarian audiences, Ivan Vazov National Theatre director Vasil Vasilev said on Tuesday.

"After this incredible tour that lies ahead of us at 13 venues across Greece, where we will delight both Greek audiences and Bulgarian audiences who are here, I would like to announce the premiere dates as well. We will begin on September 30 at the Ancient Theatre in Plovdiv, and our second premiere date will be October 9 in Hall 1 of the National Palace of Culture (NDK)," he said at an event held at the National Press Club of the Bulgarian News Agency (BTA) in Athens, where the production and the tour were presented.

On July 10 and 11, the performance had two premieres as part of the Athens Epidaurus Festival programme, and the audience sent off the international team with prolonged applause.

The tour programme includes: July 15 – Vrahon Theatre, Vyronas, Athens; July 17 – Petra Theatre, Athens; July 18 – Veakeio Theatre, Piraeus; July 20 – Siviri Amphitheatre, Halkidiki (Kassandra Festival); July 22 – Gis Theatre, Thessaloniki; July 24 – Katrakio Theatre, Nikaia, Athens; July 26 – Ancient Theatre of Dodona (Dodoni Festival); August 26 – Olympia Theatre, Floka, Ancient Olympia; August 28 – Ancient Theatre of Dion, Pieria; August 30 – Lycabettus Theatre, Athens; September 2 – Ancient Theatre of Philippi, Kavala.
