site.btaBTA Press Club in Svishtov to Host Discussion Marking Pencho Slaveykov's 160th Birth Anniversary

A discussion marking the 160th anniversary of the birth of Bulgarian poet Pencho Slaveykov and dedicated to Bulgarian modernism will take place at the Bulgarian News Agency (BTA) National Press Club in Svishtov on Friday.

The meeting will be moderated by poet, literary scholar and literary critic Yordan Eftimov.

The initiative was launched in Slaveykov's hometown of Tryavna on April 27, the 160th anniversary of his birth. Discussions have since been held in Samokov, Kazanlak, Stara Zagora, Kyustendil, Pernik, Haskovo, Kardzhali, Pazardzhik, Gabrovo, Veliko Tarnovo and Pleven.

BTA's December issue of its LIK magazine will be dedicated to Pencho Slaveykov. In addition to reports from the discussions, it will feature 160 specially commissioned texts of 160 words each, written by 160 contributors to mark the anniversary.
