site.btaBulgarian Play Director Wins Award in Japan for Work Contributing to Children's Welfare
The play The Story of a Seagull and the Gang of Tomcats, directed by Katya Petrova, has been presented in Japan with the Recommended Work for Culture in Support of Children's Welfare award in the Performing Arts category by the Children and Families Agency of the Japanese Cabinet, the Sofia Puppet Theatre (SPT) reported.
The joint project between the SPT and the PUK Puppet Theater in Tokyo was realized as part of the Cultural and Human Resources Exchange project.
"This is yet another international recognition for the Bulgarian-Japanese team, as well as a foundation for the continuation of the long-standing partnership between the two theatres. The collaboration between the SPT and PUK successfully enriches artistic exchange, contributes to professional development, and promotes the art of puppetry around the world," the Bulgarian team said.
The set design was created by Maya Petrova, lighting by Chikako Abe, sound by Yasushi Yoshikawa. Haruhiko Ii produced the play. The live music is performed by Stoyan Royanov Ya-Ya, who is also a member of the cast, which includes Marieta Petrova, Ivan Raykov, Tetsuya Odachi, Ritsuko Ishida, Misa Obara, and Tatsuo Sato.
