Stela Vasileva's solo exhibition Phase Boundary will open at the Little Bird Place gallery in Sofia on May 12 and can be viewed until June 6. The project, curated by Boyana Dzhikova, examines the boundaries between different physical and emotional states through an installation inspired by a winter landscape and the process of water freezing, the organizers said on Monday. The exhibition will be supported by the National Culture Fund.

Dzhikova said that the project began with the artist's walk in a winter forest, where frozen ravines cut through the cold earth. The ice formations serve as a metaphor for the human condition, for the fragility of relationships, their apparent stability, and the gradual, often imperceptible cracks that can lead to disintegration.

The project fits into Little Bird Place's environmental programme "Second Nature: Landscapes of Human Nature". The soil used in the installation was recycled from construction excavations in Sofia. The goal is to draw attention to sustainable practices in contemporary art and architecture.

Vasileva was born in 1983 in Lovech, North Central Bulgaria. Graduated from the National Academy of Arts with a degree in Mural Painting. Won the Gaudenz B. Ruf Award (2010), was nominated for the BAZA Award for Contemporary Art in Sofia (2013-2015). Participated in various projects, including KulturKontakt, Vienna (2012), Krinzinger Projekte, Petomihalyfa, Hungary – Vienna (2012), Cite Internationale des arts, Paris (2014).
