The visual identity of Burgas’s bid for European Capital of Culture 2032 was presented on Tuesday at an official event held at the Sea Casino Cultural Centre. The system of visuals, based on the city’s geographic outline and the historical boundaries of its neighbourhoods, was described as a key milestone in Burgas’s preparations for the competition, the team of the Burgas 2032 Foundation said.

The event brought together representatives of the cultural sector, media and guests, with a strong focus on the participation of Burgas residents themselves in the campaign. Among the special guests were some of the people featured in the visual identity, locals from different generations and professions.

Ruska Boyadzhieva, Executive Director of the Burgas 2032 Foundation, stressed that the bid has united the efforts of Burgas Municipality, the Municipal Council and all 13 municipalities in the region.

She outlined four main pillars of the concept: people and their interactions; inspiration drawn from cultural and historical context; the link between culture and nature; and the theme of development and innovation.
