site.btaSilistra Women's Association Develops New Strategy to Expand Services for Women, Children at Risk

The Ekaterina Karavelova Women's Association in Silistra is developing a new strategy to improve support for women and children affected by violence, the Association told BTA on Monday.

They emphasized that the strategy will also strengthen cooperation with public institutions and expand social services for people at risk. A two-day workshop with experts from the Impact Drive Foundation launched the process, focusing on improving organizational capacity, enlisting new professionals, expanding volunteering, advancing leadership, and building sustainable governance. They updated the organization's analysis and began drafting its "Vision 2030," which will guide priorities and service development.

The strategy is being prepared under the Mission Possible Orogramme with support from the Bulgarian Fund for Women through the EU co-funded BIRDS in BG 2 project.

Established in 1997, the Ekaterina Karavelova Women's Association operates a Crisis Centre and Resilience Support Centre in Silistra. In 2026, it also developed a regional coordination mechanism to improve institutional response and provide faster, more effective support for survivors of domestic and gender-based violence.
