The Culture, Archaeology and Cultural Heritage Department of Plovdiv Municipality Wednesday welcomed a delegation from Kreativ EU (Knowledge & Creativity European University), Plovdiv Municipality said.

Deputy Mayor Plamen Panov and Assoc. Prof. Marusya Smokova-Stefanova greeted the guests, who took a guided tour of Plovdiv’s heritage sites as part of a forum, which is held from June 15 to 18 in Svishtov (Northeastern Bulgaria). The forum focuses on developing art and cultural heritage incubators within European innovation ecosystems, with Plovdiv highlighted as a model city due to its role as a 2019 European Capital of Culture. A workshop at the Boris Hristov House of Culture featured presentations on the city’s cultural residency programmes and on administrative processes and funding through the municipal Culture Programme.

Kreativ EU is an official European university alliance funded by the European Commission’s Erasmus+ programme. Its long-term goal is to build a fully integrated European University by 2034, transforming education and research by focusing on Europe’s cultural heritage, digitalization, and creative innovation. The alliance includes higher education institutions from 11 countries, including Veliko Tarnovo University and the Academy of Economics in Svishtov.
