Connectivity is key to the successful development of the region, creating greater opportunities for investment and stronger business ties, Prime Minister Rumen Radev said during a meeting with Albanian President Bajram Begaj Wednesday, the government's press service reported.
The two officials discussed opportunities to deepen bilateral cooperation in a number of areas of mutual interest. Radev highlighted the potential for closer collaboration in trade, transport, investment, culture, education and tourism.
Particular attention was given to Corridor VIII, which the two sides described as a strategically important transnational route and a key element in improving regional connectivity.
During the meeting, Radev congratulated Begaj on Albania's significant progress in its European integration process. He also underscored the role of the Bulgarian national minority in Albania as a bridge of friendship between the two countries.
Earlier on Wednesday, President Begaj held a joint news briefing alongside Bulgarian President Iliana Iotova following a Summit of the South-East European Cooperation Process (SEECP) in Sofia.
