Bulgarian Foreign Minister Velislava Petrova held talks with Italy’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani, focusing on the implementation of Corridor No. 8, transport and energy connectivity, and cooperation in the field of defence, Bulgaria’s Foreign Ministry said on its website on Monday. The meeting took place on the sidelines of the EU Foreign Affairs Council session in Brussels.

Tajani congratulated Petrova on her appointment as Bulgaria’s Foreign Minister.

The two officials also discussed bilateral cooperation within the European Union aimed at boosting the competitiveness of European economies, as well as preserving the funding and role of the Common Agricultural Policy and Cohesion Policy under the EU’s next Multiannual Financial Framework for 2028-2034.

Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of the meeting with her EU counterparts, Petrova also announced that Prime Minister Rumen Radev’s first working visit abroad would be to Berlin.
