“Happy Day of Valour! Happy holiday of the Bulgarian Armed Forces! To those who protect the state. And to those who protect dignity,” caretaker Prime Minister Andrey Gurov wrote on Facebook on the occasion of May 6, the Day of Valour and the Bulgarian Armed Forces.
Gurov said there are victories achieved with weapons, as well as those won with honesty, backbone, and the refusal to bow one’s head when it is easier to do so. According to him, today is a day of brave warriors - the men and women who willingly become a shield for Bulgaria and everything Bulgarian, but also of all honourable people who choose not to remain silent when they must speak, and not to leave when they must stay.
“The glorious army gives us the certainty that there is someone to defend the state. But its citizens prove that there is something worth defending. St George’s Day is for all of us who try today to be more upright and braver than we were yesterday,” the Prime Minister added.
“Happy holiday to the heroes - in formation, in the streets, and within ourselves,” Gurov wrote, noting that he had earlier participated in the Day of Valour celebrations in Sofia.
