site.btaUPDATED Meeting with President, Progressive Bulgaria Floor Leader Says "What We Can Promise Is to End Political Crisis"
Meeting with President Iliana Iotova here on Tuesday, Progressive Bulgaria Floor Leader Petar Vitanov said that what they could promise is to put an end to the political crisis. “What we can promise is to put an end to the political crisis and address the challenges for which society gave us the mandate to act - such as sharp impoverishment and galloping inflation,” he added. Vitanov spoke during consultations the head of State held with representatives of Progressive Bulgaria as part of the process of granting the first exploratory mandate to form a government.
“For us, the potential budget deficit is a major problem,” Vitanov said.
He said that the work of the National Assembly and the future Council of Ministers will focus on a package of laws aimed at restoring justice.
“As a starting point, we are planning a number of legislative measures to curb continuously rising prices and widespread impoverishment,“ Vitanov said. He noted that “the search for security is also a search for justice.“
“Regarding foreign policy, I want to reassure critics expecting a radical shift. There will be nothing of the sort,“ Vitanov said. He added that PB leader “Rumen Radev holds positions that are close to those of almost all European leaders.“
“We are also aware of the pitfalls, although we are not completely clear on them,” Vitanov added.
