site.btaKorneliya Ninova Calls for "Defiant" Vote, Criticizes Campaign and Outlines Economic, Foreign Policy Proposals

Closing her election campaign in Haskovo on Friday, the leader of the Defiant Bulgaria National Movement party, Korneliya Ninova, called on all citizens to vote rationally rather than emotionally, and to remain defiant to the end, refusing to surrender or "sell out".

"We have proven over the years that we do not give up and do not sell out. We must continue the fight against the captured state and the Borissov – Peevski model," Ninova said. She also cautioned that “new saviours” are not always what they appear to be.

"Vote safely for people like us, who have stood the test of time and deliver what they promise. We do not back down and have shown through actions, not just words, that we care for people, from the youngest to the oldest," she added.

The Defiant Bulgaria leader described the campaign overall as "boring and empty, lacking real debate on the issues that matter to society, without a leaders’ debate and without concrete solutions".

According to her, Bulgaria should remain neutral regarding the war in Ukraine, US aircraft should be withdrawn from Sofia Airport, and urgent measures should be taken to reduce fuel excise duties and VAT. She also called for the state to distribute fertilizers to farmers, introduce a tax-free threshold for low-income citizens, and increase the excess profit tax on banks, monopolies, and electricity distribution companies.
