Vazrazhdane leader Kostadin Kostadinov urges President Iliana Iotova to convene the Consultative Council for National Security, the party’s press office announced. The reason cited is a threat to Bulgaria’s national security, the statement said.
It added that Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic announced a few days ago that explosives had been discovered along the Balkan Stream gas pipeline. They were placed on the pipeline between Serbia and Hungary, which is extremely dangerous not only for the two countries but also for the security of the entire Balkan Peninsula, Kostadinov said, according to the statement. "The Serbian President indirectly stated that this was the work of Ukrainian citizens, one of whom holds a military rank in his country’s army," Kostadinov said. Both Vucic and Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban took urgent measures in their countries, Kostadinov added.
According to him, "there is a possibility that terrorists have been arrested and are residing on our country’s territory." That is why the political party is calling on President Iotova to convene the Consultative Council for National Security, at which security measures can be discussed and caretaker Prime Minister Andrey Gurov can refute or confirm this information.
