The District Court in Haskovo, Southern Bulgaria has left in custody a 26-year-old American citizen, Nathan Daniel Limesand, under a European Arrest Warrant issued by the judicial authorities in the Czech city of Pardubice. The measure is to ensure the defendant is present during the extradition proceedings.

According to information provided by the court in Pardubice, Limesand is accused of participating in an organized group that carried out an arson attack on a factory producing sensitive military equipment. The fire caused about CZK 150 million worth of damages to the buildings and destroyed products worth another CZK 100 million. After the attack, the group published a statement on social media saying that their actions were motivated by a desire to stop the war in Gaza and that the factory was linked to Israeli investments, according to the Bulgarian court.

Limesand requested to be extradited to the Czech Republic. Instead of a final statement, he preferred to send a message. “Palestine must remain free, outside the occupation of Israel. And it will be so,” the defendant said.

The ruling of the District Court in Haskovo is subject to appeal within three days.

On April 4 this year, two other individuals were arrested in connection with the arson at the Czech factory, Reuters reported.
