The systems of the National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF) and the National Council on Prices and Reimbursement of Medicinal Products (NCPRMP) are now connected, the Health Ministry reported Monday. The two systems will exchange data in real time. The integration was carried out by Information Service AD.

The systems will be synchronized starting April 1, meaning that any change in the Positive Drug List will be reflected automatically in the NHIF's information systems. This will improve control over the prescribing and dispensing of medicinal products, optimize the work of the specialized administration within the National Health Insurance Fund, and prevent technical errors or inaccuracies in the work of the NHIF’s contractual partners who use centralized drug nomenclatures, the Ministry said.

Until now, NHIF staff have manually compared changes in drug lists with previous periods. With the new functionality, this process will be automated, which will significantly reduce the risk of errors and inaccuracies. The integration between the two systems will allow for faster and more accurate implementation of updates and will ensure unimpeded patient access to new medicinal products, the Ministry of Health explained. The initiative is part of the Ministry’s efforts to digitize the healthcare system and improve coordination among institutions in pharmaceutical policy.
