Parliament Friday voted to instruct the caretaker Cabinet to submit a bill of ratification of Bulgaria's accession to President Trump's Board of Peace. The resolution was backed by 100 MPs - from GERB-UDF, MRF - New Beginning and There Is Such a people, and five unaffiliated MPs. 54 MPs from Continue the Change - Democratic Bulgaria, Vazrazhdane, BSP - United Left and Velichie voted against. One deputy from Vazrazhdane and two from MECh abstained and the Alliance for Rights and Freedoms did not participate in the vote.
The draft resolution was submitted to Parliament on Wednesday by MRF - New Beginning.
Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Andrey Gurov said if the legislature voted such a resolution, the Cabinet would refer the matter to the Constitutional Court. He argued that there is "very clear case law of the Constitutional Court showing that the National Assembly of Bulgaria cannot impose such obligations on the caretaker government".
The legislature also voted that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will have 15 days to gazette the act of ratification.
