А 53-years-old Greek citizen has been accused of trying to bribe police officers during a regular car inspection, the Kardzhali District Prosecutor's Office said on Monday.

On February 7, police officers stopped a passenger car with Greek registration for inspection on the I-5 main road, in the direction from the town of Kardzhali to the former Makaza border checkpoint. The driver got out of the car, approached the police patrol car and put a EUR 50 note in the trunk of the official car, aiming to escape the inspection. The police officers did not take the money and immediately notified the investigating police officer on duty.

The accused was detained for a period of up to 72 hours by order of the supervising prosecutor.
