site.btaCabinet to Decide Bulgaria's Position on EU's 21st Sanctions Package against Russia, Belarus

Bulgaria's Council of Ministers is due to approve the country's position on the European Union's 21st package of sanctions against Russia and Belarus at its regular meeting on Thursday, according to the government's agenda.

Earlier this month, Prime Minister Rumen Radev said that he will oppose the proposed sanctions package. He told Parliament that he will do so to defend Bulgaria's national interest. 

The Cabinet is also scheduled to consider a draft National Plan for 2026 on the development of border management capabilities and the return of illegally staying third-country nationals, as well as a report on the implementation of the 2025 plan.

Ministers are also expected to approve the 2025 report on the state of Bulgaria's defence and armed forces.

The agenda further includes a proposal to recognize the National Association of People with Acquired Disabilities as a nationally representative organization of people with disabilities.

The Cabinet is also expected to approve a proposal to President Iliana Iotova to award Petko Stankov Chobanov the Order of Saints Cyril and Methodius, First Class.
