site.btaConstruction of 40-Km Section of Ruse-Veliko Tarnovo Motorway Will Be Inaugurated on Wednesday

Construction of another 40.14 km section of the Ruse-Veliko Tarnovo motorway, from Ruse to Byala, will be inaugurated on Wednesday, the Ministry of Regional Development and Public Works said.

The groundbreaking ceremony is expected to be attended by Yordanka Chobanova, Head of the Representation of the European Commission in Bulgaria, Regional Development and Public Works Minister Ivan Shishkov, Road Infrastructure Agency head Todor Anastasov, Ruse Mayor Pencho Milkov, Ruse Regional Governor Lyubomir Vladimirov, members of parliament, and mayors from the region.

The event will take place at 11 am near the Ruse–Kubrat road, 200 meters before the intersection leading to the DZS Quarter. The groundbreaking site will be located at the section where the motorway route intersects with the Ruse-Kubrat road.

The planned route of the motorway is a total of 132.84 km and is divided into three sections: Ruse-Byala (40.14 km), the bypass of the town of Byala (35.4 km), whose construction began in 2023, and Byala-Veliko Tarnovo (57.2 km).

The project for the construction of the Ruse-Veliko Tarnovo motorway is co-financed under the Transport Connectivity Programme 2021-2027. The grant assistance for the motorway amounts to EUR 524,241,794.11. The project has been designated as an operation of strategic importance, and its implementation plays a significant role in international connectivity.
